Over 30 Hospitality Social Media and Marketing professionals joined us for our inaugural Social Media Workshop! We were fortunate to have 3 incredible speakers on our panel. We heard from Rachel Brotman, @thecarboholic (on Instagram & TikTok) with 295K+ followers, Gráinne O’Neill, @thedeadrabbitny with 190K+ followers, and Angel Zheng, @angelzheng_ and @isshikimatcha with 29K+ followers & a Forbes 30 Under 30 recipient. Aly Bandali, Co-Founder of Shifka, moderated our panel.
Themes from the day centered on taking creative risks and cross-posting content in ways that uniquely fit each platform. Timing matters—hopping on trends and cultural moments while they are hot makes a real difference. Above all, hospitality comes first: while social media is important, knowing your regulars and creating a warm, welcoming space is ultimately what keeps people coming back.
In terms of strategy, likes and followers are no longer the most meaningful statistics, with shares and saves taking center stage. Start asking and qualifying influencers based on their performance data; those who won’t share their metrics likely aren’t the best fit. Once you find the right creators, build a real relationship by inviting them in outside of their contracts for a truly authentic, hospitable experience.
